Style Guide: How to wear animal print
September 1, 2011With animal prints featuring strongly in this season’s Spring/Summer fashion, you may be pondering how to include the look in an outfit. Too much animal print can be disaster, bringing to mind visions of Peggy Bundy in ‘Married with Children’! But worn well, usually as an accent piece, animal print can add a tinge of sizzle to day or night.
Some tips for wearing animal print in Spring/Summer…
- Stick with light weight fabrics – like cotton or linen – to contrast with the “heaviness” of an animal print.
- Experiment with animal print by wearing it in accessories: Hair pieces, bags, shoes or jewellery.
- Keep a simple colour palette (1-2 shades at most). Wearing too many colors and patterns with animal print is just too busy.
- Wear with confidence! Animal print makes a statement, don’t wear with fear!
